AI Chat Handoff Prompt

When a chat gets long, changes topic, or starts forgetting instructions, ask for a short handoff. Review it outside AI, remove anything private, and bring only the necessary text into a fresh chat. A handoff can carry mistakes forward, so check its facts and open questions yourself.

Prompt to copy

We're going to continue this in a new chat. Write a handoff summary
I can paste there. Include:
1. The goal, in one or two sentences.
2. Decisions we made, and why.
3. Where we are now, and what's done.
4. What's left to do, in order.
5. My rules and preferences, word for word where I gave them.
6. Anything you're unsure about, marked "Check this."
Leave out passwords, codes, account numbers and personal details.
Don't add anything we didn't discuss. Keep it under one page.

After the conversation

Save the useful result outside AI. Check what the service keeps, remove copies you no longer need, and review any remaining permissions. Deleting a chat may leave separate memories, files, or other retained copies.
